africa-outline-big11I do believe that music has a role in unifying Africa and the world. But what exactly is music? Music is defined as a sound organized in time.

One of the main ways that music has been used to unite people is by being a reflection of who we are; acting as a mirror. Music has been used as a means of bringing out our culture. From the African traditional society, music was part of life. Ceremonies were marked by the various songs being sung. Each tribe had their own kind of music sung in their mother tongue. This made each person feel a sense of belonging in the area they are born thus bringing unity.

Music in the modern society has exposed people to different cultures. Due to the uniqueness of each culture, it appeals to even those not in that community. This cuts across the cultural barriers previously set by these communities as they expose themselves to the outside world. Events that focus on our cultures have drawn thousands of people who enjoy the wide variety of performances. Dancers and music artistes often get to travel to different countries as they go on tours or perform at a concert. This brings out the fact that music draws people together. Playing music with others enforces the concept of teamwork and uniting everyone towards a common objective, regardless of their cultural/ethnic background. The music that people love has further been re-translated over and over again to fit a specific target audience.

There are very many genres of music. Each individual has their own liking. When a classical or rock concert is arranged, the fans are unified by attending the one they love irrespective of their color; black or white, or even their origin. One is usually bound by their music choice. You may not know anyone in the audience when you attend a show but you will be singing along to the same tune with people from all walks of life.

Music is likewise used during the celebration of accomplishments. People come together to celebrate milestones. Here music is used to bring out the joy present among the people and instills hope and strength to carry on. As Plato said, music “gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination”.

On the other hand, music has also been used as a tool to assist those affected by tragedies such as terrorist attacks, earthquakes or floods to name but a few. Songs have consequently been sung to give hope to those affected. The renowned Kenyan singer Kambua recently released a song named “Tutaonana tena” to encourage the Garissa terrorist attacks victims some in April 2015. A memorial concert also held in the honor or those lost surely left their families convinced that their loved ones did matter. This surely unites all affected.

Furthermore, music can be used to preach peace as it is a universal language. By playing different musical instruments side by side people of different religions and backgrounds can unite by forming friendships and understanding of others and working together to perform in concerts. Music is very mysterious in how it affects emotions. At times, you might hear a tune playing somewhere and it brings back the emotions you felt when you had listened to it previously. It acts as a reminder of past events and can serve as a means of communication between two people who have little else in common. They can share their memories have a laugh together. Music artists of today and yesterday have been known to help cross cultural divides in times of conflict and even war. Their music can bring crowds of people in warring countries to their feet, tapping their feet to the rhythm. On many occasions, disheartened soldiers are found smiling again after a visit from familiar pop music artists. For example; a song called the fighter united many of the players taking part in 2012 Olympics and gave them inspiration.

Music has been found to bring people together when reaching out in love. Many have organized music concerts for charity purposes. The concerts’ gain goes out to helping out the less fortunate by empowering them especially by providing food or education.

Most importantly, music is a vehicle for spiritual practice and fulfillment. Churches across Africa never miss singing hymns during their services. Various singers such as Sinach, Don Moen, Lenny Leblanc and their fellow gospel artistes have been relied on to give the masses across the world spiritual nourishment from the music they produce.

So, in conclusion, music indeed does have a role in unifying Africa and the world. Our focus should remain to fully utilize this unexplainable force to unite Africa and the world.

Your actions…. it is said they speak louder than words which is true. Your words may be forgotten but how you act towards another will leave an imprint.

You may portray one side when you are on stage but another manifests when off it. One that is undesirable, that is completely, the opposite of Christ-being untrustworthy, without love etc. Christ calls us to mimic His character; to be like Him. You can only liken yourself to something that exists. When Moses dwelt in the Presence of the Lord, he came out with his face shining like the sun. He drew that from the father. What/whom do you draw from? Do you draw from the world? We are not of this world so we should not liken ourselves to its nature but to the one who made us in His image and likeness. In this world, sons of God are called to be a light in this world, to be salt of the earth. Where you dwell, things should become better and not worse because God Himself dwells in you!

There comes a level in your life where you can teach people through your character; not only through reading the scripture, but by aligning yourself with His word. (2 Corinthians 3:2-3) People can read your life as they read the scripture. This is of great importance as you can even draw unbelievers to Christ just by virtue of how you live.

2 Corinthians 3:18(NKJV) says: “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord”. I do not deny that we all have character flaws….the question is, all you willing to let the potter work on you until you become a vessel of honorable use?

I compare salvation with a tree that’s growing. When sprouting, people may stamp on the tiny shoot and crush it- these may be those discouragers who try to make you give up on your salvation.
When the tree reaches a certain height, people start noticing it. Likewise, when you work on your salvation, your growth will be noticed. People will see that you are growing in Christ and may even avoid crushing you. Some may be that hedge around you helping you understand what you have not yet grasped fully and encouraging you, but some may still try to snap you into two.
Finally, it becomes a fully grown tree. The tree becomes so strong to an extent that people can even lean on it or shelter in its shade when it is hot.

As a Christian, your target should be to grow spiritually to a point where you can support and lift others and also bring more people into salvation. To be the one who is an example to the weak Christians, to be the one whom they can depend on when they need help. So at what level of growth are you at among the ones I have highlighted?? And if you have not accepted Him who gave His life for you….now is the time to do so.

I have a vision. A vision that I will speak life to a dying world. That I will bring that somebody to the knowledge of my loving savior. That my life will reflect the love shown to me. A love that can’t be compared to any other. I have been anointed to be a change. To be that lighthouse when one is sailing among rocks . To be the candle in the darkness when one is groping to find their way. To glorify the Jesus in me. My mind and spirit is set; knowing that there is no obstacle too high, no sickness too great and no dream too big. Me and God are a majority.

A lot of people have dwelt on the issue of one’s attitude. I will simply put it like this: your attitude is the determinant of how you live your life. It is how you mentally handle or process things that come your way; your angle of viewing situations. Do you go around worried about life or are you always dependent on God to make your life awesome??Take this instance: it is raining. One individual may go crazy because apparently, they forgot their umbrella and they are going to become wet, another may dance in the rain! See that’s how it is in life, you may complain and complain, and complainnn about a problem or you may enjoy whatever you have as you find a solution. Another instance is people who believe in myths. That when you wear red, you may be struck by lightning. Somebody may not mind that thinking they may obtain ‘powers’ when struck by that phenomenon….hehe.Crazy right? But in the right perspective.

Your attitude also influences the people who are going to be around you. People who are always happy tend to attract people towards them as people love having fun. Nobody wants to be around a 24/7 gloomy individual .So before thinking of taking a situation negatively, take it positively. It is for your own gain. JUST BE HAPPY, enjoy life. God didn’t place you on this earth to be a walking zombie but to influence people in a great way. He is totally in control and has great plans for you!!

A strategy is a plan that is intended to achieve a particular purpose. Strategic positioning can be seen as placing yourself at the right spot at the right time so as to get a particular desired result.

Do you place yourself in the right position??Do you place yourself where God can easily drop His blessings? In the right company? In accordance with His will? Take this example: in ushering, (where you are welcoming guests and directing them where to go or maybe even where to sit) , If you place yourself where you cannot you seen, you will surely be ineffective. Your positioning alone should show somebody that you are an usher and even when they need help, you will be the first option they seek. In battle, lack of strategy always leads to loss of life. How you prepare yourself is as important as how you will position yourself. You have to position yourself where you can hit your enemy with the most powerful blow.

Now before strategically positioning yourself for any task, you have to come fully equipped so that you can withstand. Ephesians 6:13 advises us to take up the whole armour of God which will enable us to overcome all in the course of this Kingdom war. Above all have Christ as the anchor of your soul who will help your heart not to give up. No matter the storm, you will not sway(Heb 6:19)

Have you realized where you need to place yourself in this kingdom? Where you need to place yourself to realize your full potential?

I am in a bus speeding along, on this lonely highway, on this bumpy road, as it struggles to maneuver over this hill, on my way home. Who is with me on this bus? I trust in the driver to get me safely by. Some alight when the journey become tiring or when they get to their ‘destination’. They do not realize that the journey is not yet over. I will keep my place till I get home. A smile will be on my face as I enter the gates I have longed for. Home to my father, who loved me before I knew of Him. Who loves me even when I can’t comprehend Him. He assures me of a secure dwelling. Where I will sit with Him in glory. No tears, no worries, no misplaced desires, no sickness, no loneliness, no despair just fulfillment in His presence. None can be compared. Truly he has no EQUAL

Do you ever feel like you are sooo far from your limit? That u can do so much more?? That you are so far from your goal in life? Well you should know that as long as you are still breathing, you can still achieve what God has in store for u. Our unbelief is what prevents us from entering His rest and receiving what is promised to us.

At the cross, He laid His life down 4 u, why then should u hold back? You’re tightly holding on to the small things u have instead of opening up your hands so as to receive so much more. He is ready to open the floodgates of Heaven and shower u with blessings from storehouses that cannot be depleted.

Now Heb 2 is a chapter that I have come to love. It opens my eyes to the fact that DEATH CANNOT HOLD HIM. He was glorified and honored 4 He suffered death. EVERYTHING was put under Him and was made subject to Him. The AUTHOR OF OUR SALVATION was made perfect through suffering. So that we may become co-heirs through Him. He has freed all lives held in slavery by their fear of death and became a merciful and faithful High Priest to make atonement for the sins of His people. Because He suffered when tempted, He is able to help those being tempted.I FIX MY EYES ON HIM THE PERFECTER OF OUR FAITH, keeping in mind that the builder of the house (Jesus Christ) has greater honor than the house itself(me). So I have decided to become a bright candle shining in the darkness-follow me as I follow CHRIST. I follow CHRIST.
